Carmel, located in Hamilton County, Indiana, is now entirely coextensive with Clay Township after annexing Home Place in 2018. It is bordered by Westfield to the north, Noblesville to the northeast, Fishers to the east, Indianapolis to the south, and Zionsville to the west. The city covers a total area of 48.545 square miles, with a significant portion being land. Carmel is known for its well-organized street grid system, with major east–west streets ending in a 6 and main north–south streets including Meridian and Keystone Parkway. Notably, Carmel boasts an extensive network of roundabouts, with over 100 already in place and more planned for the future.
